Starting from the Kokerbin Rock Picnic Area off Kokerbin Hill Road, Kwolyin, this walk takes you past Wave Rock, Devil's Marbles and the Historic Well, to the summit of Kokerbin Rock and back. Explore amazing rock formations, discover some of the local history or simply enjoy woodlands, wildlife and sweeping views at Kokerbin Rock. The picnic area at the base of the rock has running water, toilets and barbecue facilities, and is a good place to start exploring. A walking trail winds its way to the summit of the granite outcrop, passing beautiful wave formations, caves, lookouts and historical sites along the way. The trail meanders to the northwestern end of Kokerbin Rock, then begins the climb up the surface of the rock itself. Once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The return journey is via the same route and feels much quicker going back down. Although the trail is not technically hard, it can be steep in places. The rocks can be slippery in winter, and it is often windy at the summit. It gets hot on the rocks in summer, so take plenty of water, a hat and sunscreen. Stay on the designated paths and wear sturdy footwear when exploring the outcrops. Let us begin by acknowledging the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started
From the Kokerbin Rock Picnic Area off Kokerbin Hill Road, head towards the singular dirt walking track as you pass by a sheltered (white) seating area, keeping the humongous rock to your left. After about 200 metres, keep right as you pass by the Feature Wall to continue along the Kokerbin Rock Track.....

After another 265 m find the "Devil's Marbles" (35 m on your left).

Devil's Marbles are a collection of rather large and striking boulders which can be quite picturesque in the right light. The vegetation is fairly open, so there is plenty of space for wandering around.

The starting point of an optional sidetrip. This optional side trip takes you to the historic well which was built by drovers in the 1920s. To start this optional side trip turn right here. On returning from this side trip turn left when you get back to this intersection. Details below.

Kokerbin Rock, the granite rock formation, towers 122m above ground level and is reputed to be the third-largest monolith in Australia. From the summit, visitors can enjoy expansive scenes of farmlands and other granite domes. The area has special significance for the Noongar people, and it is recognized as an interesting location for the study of flora and fauna. To protect the fragile environment of Kokerbin Nature Reserve, camping facilities are available at the historic townsite of Kwolyin, 9km south.

Wave Rock is a steep overhang that can be accessed via a side trip off the main track. Up close, it gives the appearance of being a smaller version of Hyden's Wave Rock as it also has a wave formation, although it's nowhere near as large or dramatic, and the vegetation restricts the view.

The well is a relic of early European settlement and was vitally important to the development of farmland in this area, which is dry for much of the year. Levering the rocks into the earth to line the well walls was an astonishing feat for the engineers of the time.
