This is a short walk to a spectacular view. The walks starts with a pleasant drive along the dirt roads through the lower Blue Mountains. From the car park, the walk follows a short footpath to the fenced raised timber viewing platform. The views from the lookout are stunning and include Glenbrook Gorge, the Nepean River and Western Sydney over the Cumberland Plain. The lookout is accessible by people in wheelchairs. Let us begin by acknowledging the Dharug & Gundungurra people, Traditional Custodians of the land on which we travel today, and pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Getting started From the dirt car park at the end of Mount Portal Trail (road), this walk heads across the clay and gravel car park, towards the view and the 'Blue Mountains National Park' abseil information sign. The walk follows the (1.9m wide) concrete path between the two (1m high) fences. In less than 10m the walk continues as the concrete path becomes a timber path and leads gently down for about 25m onto the fenced elevated timber platform. At the lookou there is an information sign and great views.....

The large parking area has no marked bays but could park more than 20 cars. There is one marked mobiilty parking are at the norther end. The mobility parking area is clay earth, 5m wide and 10m deep.

Mount Portal Lookout, is found a short walk from the end of Mount Portal trail (a dirt road) in the Glenbrook Region of the Blue Mountains National Park. The lookout is wheelchair accessible and has a fenced platform providing great views from high above the junction of the Nepean River and Glenbrook Creek. The main view is down the Nepean River and across the plains of western Sydney (the Cumberland Plain). The view extends up Glenbrook Gorge and to the stunning cliffs on the other side. A stunning spot. This is also a popular abseiling cliff with information signs about the local area.
