A ridge is an elevated crest that continues for some distance. There are a number of different ridge types, such as Dendritic ridges, Moraines and Volcanic Calderas. Ridges can also be classified as hills or mountains, according to size.
The term ridgeline may refer to a long narrow range of hills (or mountains), or to the track that follows along close to the top of the ridgeline (also called a ridgeline track).
